Dogpile Diva...25 Questions: Stalking Your Favorite Rollergirls

I'm declaring this, officially ICT week with two more amazing skaters from Wichita, Kansas!!  Thank you all so much, just for being awesome.  (And Nashville is still not letting you have Luna/Ann T Histamine back!)

I'm so pleased to introduce you to ICT Rollergirls Newbie Coordinator and derby veteran, Dogpile Diva!

Name: Dogpile Diva
Number: 11

1. What league(s) are you/have you been affiliated with?
ICT Rollergirls, Wichita, KS

2. How long have you been skating (derby)?
Started January 2007...Starting my 6th year!!  Holy Crap!!

3. How did you discover roller derby?
An old friend I hadn't seen or talked to in years and years was hanging out at the bar that my best friend hung out at...they started talking and I started getting messages relayed about how I "need to join roller derby 'cause I will LOVE it!"

4. List your most notable derby injuries?
Broken tailbone, Separated shoulder, sprained both ankles (a couple months apart), sprained finger (this is why we say "fingers IN, kids!"), whiplash, and the big one: blew out my left knee in May 2010...this was the ONLY injury I stopped skating for--four months of healing. :-(

5. What was/is your oddest non-derby injury?
I have broken BOTH of my lil baby pinky toes 5 or 6 times, they just like grabbing onto stuff, LOL.

6. How did you select your derby name and number?
I had my name choices narrowed down to 3 options, but went with Dogpile because I was a State Licensed Dog Breeder at the time.  Six years of breeding pure bred AKC Boxers; they were my whole life.  I love those sweet babies.  At the time, I had 11 of them, so that was my number...5 years later, i no longer breed dogs, and no longer have any pets so I jokingly tell girls that "my number is 11 'cause I'm so badass, that I'm #1 TWICE!" Lol...just being a smartass.

7. When not being a derby badass, what do you do for work (company can be kept anonymous)?
I am a Cosmetologist/Hairdresser for JCPenny

8. What are some derby names that you find particularly funny/clever?
Some of my favorites are Janesaw Massacre, Marylin Manslaughter, Scary Katherine Gallagher, Jesus H. Christy

9. What is your non-derby first name?
Missy...birth certificate says Melissa

10. If you could have chosen your own non-derby name, what would it be?
When I was younger I had LISTS of names I would rather have, but I like my name now, I think "Missy" fits my personality.

11. What are your non-derby hobbies/activities/hidden talents?
I love watching movies...A LOT...and once upon a time I was a very talented ceramics sculptor.  I specialized in hand-built mini-replicas of people.

12. Do you collect anything, if so, what/why?
Movies, and have found recently that I really enjoy doing puzzles...weird, I know.

13. What was your favorite Holiday or Birthday present received as a kid?
When I was in middle school, my mom got me this hand puppet of a pig...The brand was called "Scrushkins" and the hand puppet animals all looked like they had been dipped in acid.  My mom thought it was disgusting and morbid, but she surprised me Xmas morning with it under the tree "from Santa"...I still have it now.

14. Who was the object of your most embarrassing teenage celebrity obsession?
Well, the closest thing I have to "embarrassing" celebrity crush is Prince...but really that's not embarrassing cause I still think he's HOT! :-)

15. Which celebrity would you like to be friends with?
Ryan Reynolds...he is funny, AND just to stare at him constantly.

16. Do you have Tattoos? What, where, and why?
My first tattoo is three big stars on my upper arm that says "Zuster" which is Dutch for "sister"...my two sisters and I got similar ones together for Xmas one year.  My second tattoo is a huge dragon on my calf, 7 hours of ink all together...my husband has a mirror imaged dragon on his opposite leg.

17. What is something that most people don’t know, or would never guess about you?
I am one of the most sensitive people in the world.  I get teary-eyed at least once every day, watching TV, listening to radio commercials, tell people stories about WHATEVER...I'm a big softy, Lol.

18. What movie(s )can you watch over and over and never get sick of?
Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog!, Jurrasic Park (All 3), Men In Black, Fired Up, Tropic Thunder, Dirty Love

19. I can't leave the house without...?
My phone...(my husband suggested I list "pooping", Lol)

20. What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Milk, beer, sandwich stuff, apples, lots of condiments, and several containers of leftover home-cooked food.

21. What is your most over-used word or phrase?
"What's 70% of Badass?", "Totally", "Don't be a pussy", "Yer, mom"

Photo credit unknown (but if it's yours, do let us know!)

22. What is the last book you've read?
Haha, the ONLY book I've read in probably 10 years was "Going in Circles"

23. Very first set of wheels?
My first awesome wheels were a 1978 El Camino!!  Skate wheels...Couldn't remember, junky ones, I'm sure.

24. What is the biggest life hurdle that you have overcome?
Learning to not be a "people pleaser"...I let it take over my life for years and it turned me into someone very pathetic and sad.  Roller derby brought the "real me" back.

25. List 3 things that you plan to accomplish in 2012?
-Become a more successful jammer
-Make more time for family
-Be and ever better role model for new skaters
